Infiniti integrates Drive-By-Wire-Steering into new Q50

It is not every day that an automaker uses a piece of technology from another transportation industry and re-works it to in their own products. That is why here at Kuni Westside Infiniti we feel obligated to share with you one of the newest and most interesting developments in the lineup of new Infiniti vehicles.

We heard that the 2014 Infiniti Q50 (due to replace the current Infiniti G37) which was recently revealed at the North American International Auto Show, will feature a special drive-by-wire-steering system. If you are unfamiliar with this technology, it may be because Infiniti took a page from the aircraft manufacturing industry. This steering system controls the car's wheels via an electrical connection as opposed to the mechanical one found in almost every car on the market.

Advantages of electronic steering include enhanced safety with greater efficiency and control between driver and car as the wheel is turned. In the Q50, drivers will also be able to select one of four different steering settings, personalizing the drive for anyone lucky enough to get in the driver's seat.

Don't for a second think that the innovative steering system is the only thing this sporty model has going for it. Under the hood, the Q50 can be outfitted with either a 3.7-liter V6 engine, or the hybrid drivetrain that includes a 3.5-liter V6 with the addition of several lithium-ion batteries, and an electric motor.

If you would like to learn more about the Q50 or any model in our large inventory of new and used Infiniti models, then be sure to stop by the Kuni Westside Infiniti showroom. We are located at 17305 Highway 99 Lynnwood, WA 98037 where our professional staff is always willing to discuss the Infiniti loan and lease options available to drivers in the Seattle, Kirkland and Everett areas.
